Ways to Worship the Lord
Question:
Do you spend time worshiping the Lord?
Question:
In what way do you worship the Lord?
The visiting Pastor last weekend mentioned that there are
many ways to
physically worship God, and he referenced several passages for us to look at as
homework. A partial list of these passages is listed below:
Revelation 7:11 [Face Down] (NIV):
10 And they cried out in a loud
voice: "Salvation belongs to our God, who sits on the
throne, and to the
Lamb."
11 All the angels were standing around the throne and
around the elders and the four
living creatures. They fell down on their
faces before the throne and worshiped
God,
12 saying: "Amen!
Praise and glory and wisdom and thanks and honor and power
and strength be
to our God for ever and ever.
Amen!"
1 Chronicles 17:16 [Sitting] (NIV):
15 Nathan reported to David all the words of
this entire revelation.
David's Prayer
16 Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said:
"Who am I, O LORD God, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?
17 And as if this were not enough in your sight, O God,
you have spoken about the future
of the house of your servant. You have looked on me as though I were the
most
exalted of men, O LORD God.
Psalms 47:1 [Clap & Shout] (NIV):
1 Clap your hands, all you nations; shout
to God with cries of joy.
2 How awesome is the LORD Most High, the great King over
all the earth!
Psalms 48:12 [Walking] (NIV):
11 Mount
12 Walk about
13 consider well her ramparts, view her citadels, that
you may tell of them to
the next generation.
Psalms 63:4 [Lift Hands & Singing] (NIV):
3 Because your love is
better than life, my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live, and in your
name I will lift
up my hands.
5 My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of
foods; with singing
lips my
mouth will praise you.
Psalms 95:6 [Bow & Kneel] (NIV):
5 The sea is his, for
he made it, and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Come, let us bow down in worship, let
us kneel
before the LORD our Maker;
7 for he is our God and we are the people of his pasture, the
flock under his care.
Today, if you hear his voice,
Psalms 123:1 [Eyes Up] (NIV):
A song of ascents.
1 I lift up my eyes to you, to you
whose throne is in heaven.
2 As the eyes of slaves look to the hand of their
master, as the eyes of a maid look to
the hand of her mistress, so our eyes look
to the LORD our God, till he shows us
his mercy.
Psalms 149:3 [Dancing & Music] (NIV):
2 Let
3 Let them praise his name with dancing and make music
to him with tambourine
and harp.
4 For the LORD takes delight in his
people; he crowns the humble with salvation.
Luke 18:13 [Eyes Down] (NIV):
12 I fast twice a week and give a tenth of all I
get.
13 "But the tax collector stood at a distance. He
would not even
look up to heaven,
but beat his breast and said,
'God, have mercy on me, a sinner.'
14 "I tell you that this man, rather than the
other, went home justified before God.
For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself
will be exalted."
Acts 3:8 [Walking & Jumping] (NIV):
7 Taking him by the
right hand, he helped him up, and instantly the man's feet and ankles
became strong.
8 He jumped to his feet and began to walk. Then he went
with them into the temple
courts, walking and jumping, and praising God.
9 When all the people saw him walking and praising God,
Questions:
After reviewing the list above, what other ways are there
to worship the Lord? Can we worship at work?
